Apple unveiled its latest Apple TV today at a press event in San Francisco. The rumored price of $99 was confirmed, as well as the lack of 1080p playback. It will be 720p capable like the last Apple TV, but also adds some notable features including Netflix support and a new seven-button aluminum remote. Apple has also stripped some features out of the device by removing hard drive storage, component and RCA outputs and replacing the standard USB port with a Micro-USB. Some predicted that it would be getting app support, but sadly that is not the case. However, the new Apple TV is less than half the price of the original, which still lists for over $200, so the reduction of features is negated by such a low launch price.
