Ready, set, buy: Samsung announces pricing, availability on its 2015 TVs

Samsung introduced a slew of new SUHD and UHD TVs on the second day of April at an event in New York. All of the new models feature Samsung’s cutting-edge TV technology, and 4K pixel resolution, while the best of the best sport a lot more colors, and high dynamic range for ultra-bright details.

Here are all of the new TVs Samsung added to its 2015 lineup, with the pricing and availability you’ve been waiting for since CES 2015.

Samsung Curved SUHD TV lineup

Samsung’s JS9500 TV has a curved screen that features the company’s nano-crystal technology, greatly expanding color gamut for a picture closer to what movie directors have always wanted us to see. PurColor helps manage color output for a natural appearance, and the company’s Auto-Depth Enhancer, feature toys with contrast to give a greater sense of depth. The TV comes with Samsung’s One Connect Box, which can be constantly updated with the latest model to keep the TV up to date with the most UHD standards that are still in the works. Pricing for the JS9500 Curved SUHD TV Series starts at $6,500, and the TV line will arrive in stores this April.

Next up in Samsung’s lineup of curved SUHD TVs is the JS9100. This TV has Peak Illuminator Pro technology, which uses increased LED illumination to brighten up the lightest parts of the picture. It also features UHD upscaling, so that even low-resolutions images appear crisper. The Samsung JS9100 arrives in May, and you can get the 78-inch model for $10,000.

The last curved SUHD TV in Samsung’s set is the JS9000, which has an edge-lit LED panel, the company’s nano-crystal technology, Precision Black for better black levels, and Peak Illuminator Pro for increased brightness when called for. This TV works with Samsung’s Tizen-based Smart TV platform, and can be hung on a wall or placed on a stand. The JS9000 Curved SUHD TV comes in three different sizes: a 48-inch model for $3,500, a 55-inch model for $4,000, and a 65-inch model for $5,000.

Samsung also updated its UHD TV line with a few new models. First up, we have the JU6700 Curved UHD TV with its 4K UHD resolution. It’s got PurColor technology, so colors don’t look oversaturated or false (but lacks the wider color gamut of Samsung’s SUHD TVs). This model is coming to stores in the spring in three size options, including a 40-inch model for $950, a 48-inch model for $1,150, a 55-inch model for $1,500, and a 65-inch model for $2,700.

Next, Samsung added the JU7500 Curved UHD TV, which has UHD upscaling technology to bring your older, less high-resolution files up to 4K UHD quality. It, too, is coming this spring in a few sizes: a 40-inch model for $1,400, a 48-inch model for $1,600, a 55-inch model for $2,000, a 65-inch model for $3,000, and a 78-inch model for $6,000.

If you’re not a fan of the curved TVs, Samsung also introduced two flat TVs — one in the SUHD line, and the other in the UHD line.

Samsung’s JS8500 SUHD TV may be flat and look like a normal TV, but it has the same high-quality screen with Precision Black technology, nano-crystal tech for wider color gamut and high dynamic range. The TV works with Samsung’s Tizen Smart TV platform, and it’s available now in a 55-inch model for $3,000 and a 65-inch model for $4,000.

On the UHD side, there’s the Samsung JU7100 UHD TV, which features Peak Illuminator and UHD Dimming, for bright whites and deep blacks. It works with the Smart TV platform, and it will be available in April. The 40-inch model costs $1,400, the 50-inch model $1,500, the 55-inch model $1,800, the 60-inch model  $2,500, the 65-inch model $3,000, and the 75-inch model $5,000.

Samsung’s 2024 TVs are bigger and packed with AI and accessibility features

If 2023 was the year of ultra-bright TVs, then 2024 is shaping up to be the year we see AI features burrow their way into them more than ever. Today at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, Samsung let loose some of the details on its much-anticipated lineup of its Neo QLED and OLED TVs for the year, and we'll have to wait for pricing and availability, but we can confirm that it's doubled down on AI to help make things look better, sound clearer, and get more customized to what you're watching.

8K TVs still suffer from not having much content out there to watch on them, but that hasn't stopped the big TV brands from pushing the tech forward in anticipation. This year's 8K lineup of Neo QLED mini-LEDs from Samsung includes two models, the QN800D and QN900D, both of which will be available in 65- to 85-inch models.

Again, details were a bit sparse at the time of this writing, but in a press release from Samsung, the company outlined improved sound and enhanced design, calling the QN900D Neo QLED the slimmest 8K TV ever to hit the market. That, and both new QLED 8K models are getting a processor upgrade to something called the NQA AI Gen3 that Samsung says features an on-device AI engine that is twice as fast as its predecessor and with eight times the neural networks.

Samsung adds wireless connectivity, touchscreen tech to its Premiere projectors

Among Samsung's many product announcements at CES 2024 in Las Vegas, the Korean electronics giant breathed some new life into its popular Premiere projector lineup. New models are bringing some bold firsts to the projector space, including the Premiere 8K that boasts wireless connectivity and sound that emanates from the screen, and the compact Premiere 5, an ultra short throw (UST) projector that can project onto 3D objects and has touchscreen features.

And while we're waiting for full details and demos of the projectors from CES 2024, here's what we know right now. Starting with the big guns, Samsung first announced The Premiere 8K UST (ultra short throw) projector last year at CES 2023, but released very few specs outside of it being capable of projecting a monstrous 150-inch image. A year later, it's still not available to purchase. And while full specs, pricing, or release dates still haven't been announced, we've gotten a few more details on the projector.

Samsung says The Premiere 8K "achieves several new feats. For starters, it's "the world's first 8K projector with wireless connectivity," by way of Samsung's new Wireless One Connect Box that beams images from up to 10 meters (32.8 feet) away to the actual projector unit. All peripherals (such as steaming devices and DVD players) are connected to the box instead of the projector, making messy wires easier to conceal.
