Sharp has announced a new series of professional projectors that will include the PG-LX3500/PG-LX3000, among other models. The projectors are described as ultra-light and portable, and all feature 3D capability and BrilliantColor. They’re billed mostly as tools for the classroom and boardroom, but we see no reason the two upper-tier models won’t fit right in with cost-conscious home theater.
It looks like these newbies are focused mainly on stepping up picture quality, as each boasts a 2,000:1 contrast ratio, while brightness is rated at a respectable 3,500 lumens. Resolution maxes out at WXGA – or, 720P for home viewing purposes. Sharp uses words such as “dazzling” and “life-like” to describe the results. We can’t vouch for that, but we can say that the specs indicate these are high-quality offerings.
Moving on to another dimension, the DLP Link technology employed in all models allows you to streamline the 3D data synchronization process. In contrast to other methods – which often require special emitters or 3rd party transmission devices – DLP Link claims to make 3D as easy as securing content and a pair of active 3D glasses.
Connectivity options for the new kids are pretty convenient as well. All projectors in the series sport an HDMI port, two terminals for computer RGB/components, and composite video and stereo audio inputs. RJ-45 LAN and RS-232C serial control/communications ports are also provided.
The PG-LX3500 ($1,455 MSRP) and PG-LX3000 ($1,200 MSRP) will be available later in Q1, 2013 through authorized dealers.
