A new multiyear deal between Time Warner Cable and Starz will see expanded coverage of the former’s 15 multiplex channels, plus extra video on-demand services and TV Everywhere access online and on smartphones and tablets.
The financial terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, but the new additions are set to go live in a month or so. Time Warner Cable subscribers will gain access to Starz’s 15 multiplex networks, including the Starz, Encore, MoviePlex, RetroPlex and IndiePlex channels. Warner will also be able to offer Starz Play and Encore Play as part of Starz’s TV Everywhere service that offers movies and TV shows.
Subscribers to those channels won’t have to pay extra to access Play services on PCs, Macs, iOS devices and “select” Android devices.
Warner’s video on-demand services will be expanded to other markets, which will include Starz original series, like Da Vinci’s Demons, Magic City and The White Queen. New movies have been added, including 21 Jump Street, Men in Black 3 and The Amazing Spider-Man. The full gamut of content spans thousands of episodes and movies.
This deal marks a further expansion for Starz, as Warner is now the fifth pay-TV provider to adopt TV Everywhere. DirecTV, Cox Communications, FiOS, AT&T U-verse TV and Cox Communications are the other four, while Dish Network and Comcast roll out access through their own custom portals.
