Wynd’s new smart air purifier keeps the air around you clean, wherever you go

You don’t need to live like The Boy in the Plastic Bubble to breathe cleaner air. Wynd Technologies Inc.  announced on Thursday the launch of Wynd, its personal air quality tracker and purifier. The devices monitor the air around you and work to purify it when necessary.

Wynd was designed with the goal of increasing air quality for its users. The purifier filters out numerous harmful particles, from allergens to bacteria to mold spores and more. With the CDC predicting increases in air pollution and allergens around the world in the near future, the startup has introduced the system at the right time.

“We set out to create a product that enables a healthy and comfortable air environment wherever life takes you,” said Raymond Wu, Wynd’s CEO and co-founder, in a statement. “Wynd is committed to improving the air quality problem which many people around the world encounter on a daily basis, whether from allergens or industrial pollution.”

When used as a set, the air quality tracker influences the purifier’s purification level automatically, based on information it gathers from the surrounding environment. Alternatively, the air quality tracker can be used on its own to collect information in various locations; it is extremely portable, clipping easily onto backpacks, key chains, and more.

Users can access the information the Wynd system gathers in the iOS app. In addition to current air quality, interested users can see how much pollution has been filtered by the air purifier. The system also keep tabs on when filters need to be replaced, even offering the options to subscribe for automatic refills and purchase them through the app.

“Living in environments free from pollutants and allergens is crucial to our overall health and well-being,” said Dr. Alan Cohen, a pediatric pulmonologist and adjunct clinical faculty at Stanford University School of Medicine, in a statement. “Wynd’s smart and portable purifier is a groundbreaking advancement that will help people breathe healthier air wherever they are.”

The Wynd system is now available on Kickstarter for $139. The air quality tracker can be purchased separately for $69.

The new Wyze Air Purifier offers quiet, efficient filtration
The Wyze Air Purifier is quiet enough for use in any room.

Wyze has announced a new air purifier with three different filter options. You can choose which filter you want at purchase, but the other filters can be purchased at a later date and swapped out on the fly as needed.

The Wyze Air Purifier filter options include the Allergen (Standard) filter, the Formaldehyde (Premium) filter, and the Wildfire filter. It utilizes a true HEPA filter for 99.97% efficiency in eliminating harmful, airborne particles such as dander, pollen, and even smoke. The purifier has enough power to clean a 500-square-foot room up to three times an hour, and it's not too loud even on the highest setting. The sound ranges from 21 decibels in its sleep mode to 54 decibels on its highest level -- roughly the same volume as a refrigerator's hum.

Molekule adds an Air Score to its Air Pro purifier
molekule enables air score pro

Molekule, one of the leading manufacturers of air purifers, has announced a new feature for its Air Pro purifiers. This new feature, called the Molekule Air Score, provides an easy-to-understand air quality score that shows users the levels of particles and chemicals in the surrounding air.

Molekule states that the score is combined with one of their new sensors in the Air Pro purifiers. That sensor can capture nearby VOCs (volatile organic compounds like aerosol sprays or preservatives), humidity, and CO2 levels. Then, the sensor uses the data from the air to improve the device's 'Auto Protect' mode, which is what the Air Pro uses to adjust fan speeds automatically.
