iHome has released the its iH41 rotating alarm clock for Apple’s iPod touch. And by “rotating,” we don’t mean that the alarm clock has a little motor that makes the thing start spinning around when the alarm goes off; rather, the entire clock can be set up in a vertical orientation or on its side, and the clock display automatically adjusts so it’s right-side up. Just like the variable aspect screen design of the iPod touch, which knows which its being held vertically or in landscape mode. By being abl to function on its side, the iH41 enables iPod touch users to watch widescreen video on their touch while the device is charging.
“At iHome, we’re continually striving to create products that offer users new ways to experience and enjoy their iPods,” said iHome’s VP of marketing Evan Stein, in a statement. “The artistic design of the iH41 is great for tight spaces, and its smart, hands-free functionality make watching and listening to the iPod more enjoyable than ever before.”
As one might expect from an iPod dock, the iH41 charges the iPod touch while docked; the unit also sports EXB Extended Bass and a Reson8 speaker chamber for enhanced low-end response. The iH41 sports a line in jack for other media players, and, yes, the iH41 can work with other iPod models…they just can’t take advantage of the flip-to-the-side feature. The iH41 features a remote and a snooze bar, and carries a suggested retail price of $79.99.
