The world’s most expensive vacuum costs a million dollars

When we think of luxury home appliances, Sub-Zero fridges and fancy French ranges that cost more than a car come to mind. But even a $46,000 La Cornue can’t compete with a million-dollar vacuum.

While the range is prized for its hand-built quality, the $1,249,994 vacuum looks like any old upright from decades ago… only plated in 24-carat gold. The machine comes with a 10-amp, high-performance motor; a roller-brush attachment; and lifetime warranty. It’s available only through online retailer Firebox.com, and apparently only 100 have been made. Originally made by GoVacuum, the pricey appliance debuted in 2012 with a rather spectacular video. (“It’s 24-carat. Man, I wanna marry it,” are some of the best lyrics.)

Firebox seems hip to the fact that the vacuum is a tad ridiculous, seeing as it’s listed in the WTF category on the site. The section is also home to a 24-carat-gold bike ($390,623), a $31,250 replica of the Iron Throne from Game of Thrones, and an interactive periodic table of swearing that costs $78,125. Or you could just blow $109,374 on an electric DeLorean, Flux Capacitor not included.

The retailer bills itself as being not for everyone and only selling very unique items. Not everything costs as much as a college education, though. Much of what they sell is in the vein of Think Geek. Just in the home and lifestyle section, we found Scrabble lights ($31), a device that turns your bathtub into a disco party ($13), a mug that looks like Mario Bros. pipe ($20), and a ladle that makes it look like the Loch Ness Monster is swimming in your soup. If you have your heart set on something Back to the Future-related, you could nab this iPad case that looks like 1950-2000 Grays Sports Almanac. It’s not DeLorean, but it is only $28.

Eufy’s new X9 Pro Robovac offers automated mopping and vacuuming for less than $1,000
The Eufy X9 Pro moving from carpet to hardwood.

There’s been no shortage of robot vacuum launches of late, and it seems Eufy isn’t going to miss out on the fun. Following hot on the heels of Ecovacs and Roborock, Eufy is releasing the X9 Pro Robovac on June 29. But unlike the competition, the X9 Pro will offer mopping and vacuuming skills for less than $1,000.

The X9 Pro will be available for just $899, yet offers many of the features found on products that sell for twice its price. This includes 5,500 Pa of suction, the ability to raise its mop a full 12mm when traveling on carpet, and a base station that can clean and dry the robot after each cycle. That’s an impressive list of features, especially when you consider the price tag.

Dyson is gearing up to launch the most powerful robot vacuum in the world
The Dyson 360 Vis Nav cleaning near a wall.

Dyson, known for its cordless vacuums and other home cleaning products, is jumping back into the world of robot vacuums with the newly revealed Dyson 360 Vis Nav. The company’s previous endeavors into the robot vacuum market weren’t anything to write home about -- but Dyson is looking to change that perception, as the 360 Vis Nav is said to be twice as powerful as any other robot vacuum currently available.

Dyson hasn’t released exact specs for the upcoming product (nor has a release date been announced), but the information shown off so far is plenty intriguing. For one, it’ll likely churn out at least 12,000 Pa of suction, a number far greater than any robot vacuum on the market (including the Roborock S8 Pro Ultra) and one that should provide cleaning prowess on par with Dyson’s cordless vacs.
