The most high-tech room in your house may soon be your bathroom. At least, if you consider bringing a dentist into your home by way of a true 21st-century toothbrush. Thanks to the latest new smart toothbrush from Philips Sonicare, which bears the rather unwieldy name of the Philips Sonicare FlexCare Platinum Connected, you’ll have unprecedented insights as to just how you’re brushing your teeth, and whether you’re brushing certain parts of your mouth too much or too little. So if you’re tired of hearing your dentist tell you about the same problem spots over and over again, you may be able to beat her to the punch with this Bluetooth connected toothbrush.

The connectivity of this particular toothbrush is key, as it uses its myriad sensors in the handle to track your brushing habits. This data is then transmitted via Bluetooth to an app (available for both iOS and Android), where you’ll be shown a 3D map of the insides of your mouth. From there, you’ll be able to determine which teeth you’ve taken care of, and which you’ve been neglecting. And better still, you’ll see how much pressure you’re applying, and if it’s too heavy or too light. And of course, because both the app and the toothbrush itself feature a timer, you’ll know when you’ve hit the recommended two-minute mark.

“With FlexCare Platinum, even the deepest clean is gentle enough to protect your teeth and gums,” Philips says. “Thanks to the AdaptiveClean brush head and intuitive pressure sensor you can get maximum plaque removal and a gentle experience however you brush.” Claiming 10 times more plaque removal and healthier gums when compared to results of a manual toothbrush, the new smart brush also boasts three modes and three intensities, two different brushheads, and a UV brush head sanitizer.

So if you’re a true denizen of the 21st century, you might as well bring your mouth into the future as well.
