There are innumerable books, magazine, articles, websites, video tutorials, and more devoted to beauty advice, so wading through the information can be both time-consuming and intimidating. For consumers who don’t have time to do the necessary research, Trestique has added a new service to its website in which makeup users can seek virtual, personalized advice.

The new tool allows those who are on the hunt for their ideal shades to upload a selfie for a Trestique makeup artist to review. Once received, the beauty pros evaluate the photo and then recommend the specific shades and products that are best suited for the individual user. It’s a quick and convenient process, and the consultation is free.

“As an e-commerce based color brand,” Trestique co-founder Jenn Kapahi told Digital Trends in an email, “we wanted to create an easy connection/conversation with our customer, and to bridge the gap that exists between our customer and our products. We launched our ‘virtual shade matching selfie service’ as a result of so many customers emailing us for shade or product advice.”

Trestique’s mission is to simplify beauty so that users have time to do the other things they love. The brand offers a number of products that are designed to be portable and functional, from 2-in-1 beauty tools to lightweight makeup sets. Adding the new service is in line with Trestique’s mission, given that a virtual consultation requires minimal effort and time commitment on the user’s part.

The response to the tool so far has proven the need for such a service. Consultations with Trestique makeup artists have been in high demand, with selfies being uploaded by a variety of users. “We are most surprised by the diversity and ages of the customers sending us selfies,” said Kapahi. “We’ve gotten everyone from twenty-somethings to seventy-year-olds!”
