While Apple is offering some Christmas cheer with its 12 Days of Gifts app, it appears a certain e-commerce giant wants to show its no Scrooge either, with the roll out of some seasonal deals and discounts for visitors to its own app store.

With so many Android device activations expected in the coming days, Amazon is hoping to tempt users into visiting its Appstore the second the wrapping comes off their new mobile gadget.

First up, it’s offering each user a $5 credit to anyone who downloads an app or game from the latest version of the Amazon Appstore between December 24 and 28, the Web company announced on Monday.amazon holiday discounts

The credit can be used to buy any apps, games, and in-app items from the Amazon Appstore before March 31, with one credit offered per customer per account.

While the Amazon Appstore offers far fewer apps compared to Google Play, we’re sure you won’t have too much difficulty finding something to spend your credit on. Head over to here for full details on the offer.

And there’s more – Amazon Appstore customers can also pick up a free daily app from December 24 to 28, including Angry Birds Star Wars II, Piano Master Christmas Special, and Where’s My Perry? In addition, the Seattle-based company is offering free App of the Day bundles on December 25 and 26.

Also, look out for discounts of between 50 and 90 percent on other apps and games during Christmas week, including Bejeweled 2Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing, and Gangstar Vegas. And on December 26 only, you can pick up Office Suite Pro 7 for 99 cents, saving yourself a respectable $14 on the normal price. Information on the daily deals will show up on the Appstore’s homepage here.

Meanwhile, Apple’s 12 Days of Christmas offer kicks off on December 26, offering iDevice users one free app/song/TV show/movie/book a day until January 6. The annual deal is coming for the very first time to US-based owners of Apple’s iPhone and other mobile products.
