It has been quite the busy week, what with Microsoft’s BUILD 2016, the launch of the 9.7-inch iPad Pro and the iPhone SE, as well as Tesla’s unveiling of the affordable Model 3.

Need something to take your mind off of all that information? Check out these new apps of the week, and hey — they’d be perfect to try on your shiny, new iPad or iPhone SE.

Color Switch

Color Switch
Color Switch is the perfect game for your commute, or just for killing time. It’s quite similar to Flappy Bird, except it’s not as hard, and it won’t make you want to throw your phone out the window. You essentially control a ball by tapping the screen repeatedly to keep it from falling. You have to move through obstacles to advance, but you can only hop through them if they match the color of the ball. Miss, and you’ll explode into colorful pieces and will have to start over.

ShotPitch

ShotPitch
Having trouble finding and meeting with investors to raise money for your startup? Try ShotPitch. Quickly add your startup’s information — such as how much you are raising and annual revenue — and then explore various investors. Send  your pitch to the ones you think may be interested. Of course, the app works two ways, so if you’re an investor, you’ll be getting curated pitches from around the world — and you don’t have to share your email.

Stash

Stash
If you’ve ever thought about getting into investing, but have been hesitant, then Stash is the app for you. Stash’s goal is to remove the confusion and heavy jargon from investing in stocks, and turn it into an easy way for people to save a little money and invest. You can invest with as little as $5, and the service is free for the first 3 months. After that, it’s $1 per month, and once your account reaches $5,000, Stash will take 0.25 percent of your account balance per year. Stash just landed on Android.

TeleKitty

Behold, cat people — the perfect app to understand what your cat is saying. Not really, but once you take a picture of your cat with the “Cat Purrcognition” software, it will churn out a message with some additional illustrations, for you to share to whoever is crazy enough to be listening. There are in-app purchases to acquire more categories of “cat thoughts.”

Klara

Klara
If you like to know the lowdown on the day’s weather in precise detail — whether it’s for work, or if you’re planning an event — you’re better off going with Klara. This beautiful app shows you everything you need in a neat format, and all on one page. You’ll be able to check the precipitation, temperature, cloud coverage, wind speed and direction, pressure, and humidity via Klara. You can also choose from four color skins, and there’s a widget for even quicker access.

Apple’s AI plans for the iPhone just leaked. Here’s everything we know
The back of a Natural Titanium iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Apple is the only major name in the world of Big Tech that hasn’t made its ambitious AI plans public yet. But that will change in a few weeks, with a focus on reimagining the iPhone experience. Bloomberg, citing internal sources, has detailed how Apple plans to integrate generative AI experiences with iOS 18, the next major build of its iPhone operating system.

The company plans to push new AI-powered capabilities not just in such in-house apps as Safari and Maps, but also in experiences like the notification system and a supercharged Spotlight search. Notably, Apple will push the bulk of AI processing to the iPhone’s silicon, and only a minor portion of it will be pushed to the cloud.

Arc Search, one of the best iPhone apps right now, just got even better
Arc Search's Call Arc feature.

One of our favorite iPhone browser apps has just introduced an interesting new feature. Arc Search’s new "Call Arc" tool functions similarly to making a phone call on your iPhone 15 Pro or other iPhone. Instead of speaking to someone on the other end of the line, though, you ask Arc to answer your queries. The outcome is fresh and unique, and it actually works really well.

Before its latest software update, Arc Search already offered a voice search feature. The AI-powered Call Arc is different and designed for people on the go who are looking for quick answers to short questions.

The Google app on your Android phone is getting a helpful new feature
Google app on Android beta showing Notifications.

The Google app for Android phones is getting a helpful new feature to make search even better. The latest beta has a dedicated "Notifications" feed in its bottom bar. The feature was first introduced on the mobile version of Google for Android earlier this year. The app feature was first noticed by 9to5Google.

The app now includes a Notifications option at the bottom, next to Discover, Search, and Saved items. The Notifications section displays a continuous list of alerts from Google Search, weather conditions, flight information, sports scores, movies and TV shows, and more. The notifications are grouped under “Today” and “Earlier." This feature should prove handy if you miss a notification from the Google app, as it provides a more focused view than Android's system-level history.
