Dell updates the Venue 7 and 8, promises not to hurt your wallet

When we reviewed the Dell Venue 8 tablet last year, we thought it was a good middle-of-the-road tablet that didn’t make us think too harshly of it. Earlier today, Dell not only refreshed the Venue 8 with updated specifications, but also updated the Venue 7 in the hopes of offering consumers tablets that offer good performance with a price tag that won’t make your wallet hate you.

Both the Venue 7 and 8 include 1GB of RAM, 16GB of storage (expandable to 64GB), and Intel HD Graphics (Imagination Power G6400). While the Venue 7’s processor has been upgraded from a 1.6GHz Intel Atom Z2560 to an Intel Atom Z3460 Merrifield, the Venue 8 goes from a 2GHz Intel Atom Z2580 to a 2.1GHz Intel Atom Z3480 Merrifield. In addition, the Venue 7 is equipped with a 1280 x 800 pixel display, while the Venue 8 comes packed with a 1920 x 1200 pixel display.

Both tablets include Waves MAXXAudio Pro audio technology, with Dell claiming it will ensure great sound quality. Finally, both tablets will come with Android 4.4 KitKat. To go along with the announcement, Dell also revealed several accessories for the Venue 7 and 8, which include a Bluetooth portable speaker, a Dell Venue Cradle that acts as a wireless charger, and the Duo Tablet Case.

The Venue 7 and 8 will be priced at $160 and $200, respectively, when they become available on July 1.

Google is rolling out a new Android 13 update that fixes 46 bugs and performance issues for the Pixel 7. The fixes range from squashing smaller bugs to larger, systemwide updates that do things like optimize battery life and overall performance, making this one of the most substantial Pixel 7 updates to date. While the update, Android 13 QPR2, provides a lot of fixes for the Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro specifically, it also cleans up performance for the entire Pixel 6 line as well.

There are plenty of small fixes in the update. However, the bigger ones seem like they're going to noticeably improve the user experience for all Pixel 7 owners on just about every front.
