For those people, the day has finally come, and though the launch of a shiny new app for their platform may not result in any spontaneous dancing in the streets, it should nevertheless provide Windows phone and tablet users with a sliver of pleasure, if not a brief but heartfelt teeth-baring grin.
According to a Dropbox post announcing the new app, users will be able to pretty much what they’d expect with the file hosting service, with features including the ability to automatically backup photos, mark files as favorites so you can reach them offline, and access both your personal and work accounts at the same time.
“We’ve also tailored the app for the Windows platform, so you can pin any Dropbox folder to your Start screen for quick and easy access,” Dropbox’s Matthew Jaffe explained in the post.
The new app is available now for Windows phones (8.0 or higher) as well as Windows devices running Windows RT or Windows 8.1.
The rollout of the new app represents the next phase of a partnership between Microsoft and Dropbox announced toward the end of last year. The collaboration is designed to bring improved integration between Dropbox and Microsoft services such as its cloud-based Office apps.
