Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini arrives on AT&T shores on March 20

The Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini, the smaller sibling of the bigger Galaxy S5, has its eyes set on an AT&T launch later this week, announced the carrier.

The Galaxy S5 Mini packs a 4.5-inch 720p Super AMOLED display, a step down from the Galaxy S5’s 5.1-inch 1080p display. The Galaxy S5 Mini makes due with a 1.4GHz Cortex-A7 processor and 1.5GB of RAM. Again, this is a step down from the 2.5GHz Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of RAM found in the Galaxy S5, but the Galaxy S5 Mini is meant to be a more affordable option.

The Galaxy S5 Mini still packs the fingerprint sensor found on its bigger sibling, as well as the same IP67 certification for dust and water resistance. While it currently runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat, it’s due for an upgrade to Android 5.0 Lollipop sometime in the near future.

Starting on March 20, you can grab the Charcoal Black Galaxy S5 Mini from AT&T for $430 off-contract or $100 with a two-year contract. AT&T Next will have you pay $14.30 a month over 30 months or $21.48 a month over 20 months. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge are supposed to be available relatively soon, so it’s interesting AT&T chose now to release toe Galaxy S5 Mini. Even so, the handset caters to a different audience, so there shouldn’t be too much cannibalization.
