Mobile game maker Gameloft is behind some of the most wildly popular apps that aren’t called Angry Birds. The studio has built a business around delivering a console-like experience on the smallest of screens (plus tablets), with titles like Gangstar and Order & Chaos very clearly aping Grand Theft Auto and World of Warcraft (admittedly not a console game), respectively. So it should be no surprise to hear that work is underway on porting several of the company’s hits to Sony‘s two Android tablets.
The Sony Tablet S arrived earlier this month while the dual screen Sony Tablet P is still coming soon, but both will soon be home to Gameloft’s HD offering of titles. The list includes some of the more well-received recent games from the studio, including Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD, N.O.V.A. 2: Near Orbit Vanguard Alliance HD, Real Soccer 2011 HD, Spider-Man: Total Mayhem HD and Green Farm HD. The games will all be available before the end of the year, if they’re not up already (Sony Tablet S owners?).
It’ll be interesting to see if Gameloft does anything specific to the P tablet, since its dual-screen setup offers some unique presentation possibilities that you don’t see on other devices of this type. Perhaps not Sony Tablet-exclusive games, but even ports from other platforms that might not otherwise be a good fit for a single-screen device.
