Glu Mobile announced today that it has entered into an exclusive agreement with game publisher Activision to bring the Call of Duty video game franchise to mobile phones.
The Call of Duty first-person combat franchise is based around World War II European theatre scenarios; in various editions of the game, players take on the roles of a member of The Big Red One infantry division, a gunner on a B-17 bomber, soldiers in the Normandy Breakout campaign, and many more scenarios. The Call of Duty franchise has always prided itself on presenting intense, realistic combat scenarios and multiplayer capabilities to PC and console gamers.
“We’re thrilled to engage in an exclusive partnership with Activision and bring a new Call of Duty title to mobile gamers worldwide,” said Greg Ballard, Glu CEO and president. “The Call of Duty franchise has brought new meaning and innovation to the first person action category and is a great addition to Glu’s portfolio of award-winning games.”
If you’re concerned about how long it will be before mobile phone are desperately trying to shoot German soldiers or outflank a gun battery without smashing into you while they’re driving…Glu says Call of Duty should be available on major wireless carriers later this year.
