- iPhone cannot be used fully while in the elan case
Summary
Griffin, purveyor of countless iPod, iPhone and computer accessories, recently updated their product line with the elan holster for the iPhone. The elan holster is a black leather iPhone holder that can be clipped to a belt or the waistline of any garment. The belt clip can be converted to hold the iPhone in a vertical orientation (standard) or horizontally. The belt clip can also be removed entirely, making it an sleek and stylish iPhone case for use in a laptop bag, briefcase or purse.
The elan has soft, supple full-grain leather on the outside and provides a soft, no-scratch microfiber lining on the inside. The leather is embossed with a double-pill-shaped design. The elan is pretty elegant compared to most of the cheaper plastic cases and iPhone protectors.
While the elan is gorgeous (and smells quite nice), the only downside is that when our iPhone is placed in the elan, its screen is not visible and cannot be manipulated. If a call comes in, or if we want to use the iPod feature, we have to take the iPhone out of the holster. Given the aesthetics of the elan and the extra protection is gives the iPhone, the full-screen coverage is a minor issue.
Also included with the elan: one plastic static-peel screen protector and a handy little microfiber cleaning cloth. The case comes with a 1-year warranty.
Griffin is selling the elan for $29.99 USD,however you can save a nickel by buying it at an Apple store or on apple.com.
