Your Android phone, such as a Samsung Galaxy S24 or OnePlus 12, is primarily a phone. If you want to keep your phone number private, there are different methods to do so. You can make your number private for a specific call or for all calls you make in the future. Let's take a look at how it works.

What You Need

  • Your Android phone

These directions are for Android phones with a cellular connection, and not for making calls through third-party services like Google Voice using Wi-Fi. With that out of the way, let's get started.

How to block your phone number for your current call

If you wish to only block your number for the call you're about to make, these are the directions to follow.

Step 1: First, open the Phone app on your Android device.

Step 2: Type 67 followed by the phone number of the person you wish to call. For example, if the number is 555-555-5555, you'd type, "675555555555."

Step 3: Tap Call to make the call.

How to block your phone number for every call

If you don't want anyone to see your phone number when making calls, you can follow these directions.

Step 1: On your Android phone, select the Phone app.

Step 2: Next, choose the three-dot icon at the top right.

Step 3: Select Settings.

Step 4: On the next page, tap Calling Accounts. It might say Calls on your phone.

Step 5: Choose your SIM card and then tap Additional Settings. It could say Supplementary settings on your phone.

Step 6: Select Caller ID.

Step 7: Finally, choose Hide number on the pop-up menu.

Step 8: If you don't see these options on your Android-based phone, it's because your carrier requires you to do it another way. For example, for Verizon customers, you need to use the My Verizon app. If you're an AT&T customer, you must contact AT&T directly.

And that's all there is to it! Follow these steps as described, and you'll be turning your phone number private in no time at all.

When companies release new smartphones, they usually call out a specific camera specification or two. For the Galaxy S24 Ultra, Samsung calls out the 200-megapixel main camera as well as the 5x telephoto, while Apple focused on its 48MP Fusion camera, and Google made bold claims about the power of its 5x telephoto zoom.

However, dive deeper, and you’ll often find that these flashy cameras are paired with other lower-resolution sensors. For some companies, this isn’t a significant problem, and Google has proven that you can work wonders using AI and algorithms, even when the hardware doesn’t match up.

I tried a new Android phone that puts some of the best smartphone cameras to shame
The rear camera setup on the Oppo Find X8 Pro.

It’s been a few years since I was surprised by a smartphone camera’s zoom performance. With Samsung offering 100x zoom on its Galaxy S Ultra lineup, little has shocked me with smartphone cameras — until now.

The Oppo Find X8 series is the successor to the Find X7 series from last year, and alongside several other improvements, there’s also been a significant upgrade in one area: the 30x zoom. Oppo and OnePlus have great cameras at shorter zoom distances, and at a recent briefing, I discovered that we can now add the 30x zoom to the list.
