HP enters the $100 tablet game with the 7 Plus

It looks like HP is learning a thing or two from Motorola. The company has quietly unveiled the HP 7 Plus, a $100 tablet that’s guaranteed to take it easy on your wallet.

The 7 Plus comes equipped with a 7-inch 1024 x 600 pixel screen that’s flanked by pretty beefy bezels, though their practical usage could nullify that. It is powered by an Allwinner A31 ARM Cortex A7 quad-core processor coupled with 1GB of RAM. The tablet comes with 8GB of internal storage, though the MicroSD card slot allows for up to 32GB of additional storage. You will find a 2-megapixel camera on the back and a 0.3-megapixel camera on the front.

Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n keeps the 7 Plus connected to the world, while the 28oomAh battery gives the tablet up to 5 hours and 30 minutes of battery life. Finally, while Bluetooth is absent, the tablet is powered by Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean.

While it’s easy to scoff at the specifications, it seems to represent a great alternative for those with tight budgets or for those who have kids and wish to buy it for entertainment purposes. The HP 7 Plus is available now, and if you want to save even more money, applying coupon code SLICK15HP at checkout will net you a $15 discount, lowering the price tag to $85.

Every Android tablet we’re expecting in 2024

It’s an exciting time for Android tablets. Into the vacuum left in 2023 by Apple’s first-ever dearth of new iPads stepped two new contenders offering distinct takes on what a tablet should be, while Samsung’s venerable Tab S9 lineup raised the bar by cementing the position of its largest tablet and bringing AMOLED screens to the entire family.

There’s no reason to believe that this year will be any less interesting as Samsung continues to up its game while Google and OnePlus try to refine their initial first-generation efforts into more mature products.

I performed an intense gaming test with the OnePlus 12. Here’s what happened
Person holding green OnePlus 12 phone in hands while playing games.

OnePlus has traditionally appealed to a very demanding set of users. Its "Never Settle" ethos appealed to early adopters of OnePlus phones looking to accomplish more than they can on traditional flagship phones at a much lower price. After a few years off track, OnePlus' latest flagship phone -- the OnePlus 12 -- feels like an ideal representation of its founding principles.

From a radiant display to superfast wired and wireless charging, the OnePlus 12 has many compelling features. Areas that I feel deserves the most attention are its gaming performance and brilliant value, even compared to other $800 phones.

OnePlus has started the year off strong with the launch of its signature flagship, the OnePlus 12. It packs in the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, at least 12GB RAM, a powerful triple-lens camera system, and a gorgeous high-resolution AMOLED display that gets up to 120Hz refresh rates and reaches a whopping 4,500 nits of peak brightness. Plus, it's an absolutely beautiful phone.
