HTC may not release its newest flagship smartphone at CES 2015, but it’s sure got at least one device up its sleeves. The Taiwanese smartphone manufacturer posted a teaser photo on its Sina Weibo social media account with the tagline, “Always Desire more.” Below the tagline, HTC lists the dates and times of its press event at CES for different time zones.
Although the post confirms next to nothing, it does feed earlier reports from noted leaker Upleaks that HTC will reveal at least one Desire smartphone at CES 2015. Upleaks contends that HTC will hold its new flagship, the HTC Hima, which may or may not be the HTC One M9, in late March after Mobile World Congress. The leaker posted his thoughts on HTC’s plans for CES on his website.
Upleaks believes that HTC will launch yet another selfie phone called the Desire A52. The A52 may sport the same high-resolution 13-megapixel front-facing camera as the recently released Desire Eye and upcoming HTC Hima. So far, it looks like the new Desire phone is only heading to select Asian markets, including Taiwan, Singapore, India, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and China. Of course, it could eventually branch out to the U.S. and Europe, but Upleaks hasn’t gotten wind of that news yet.
Although many of the specifications of the device remain unknown, Upleaks claims the Desire A52 will feature a 4-megapixel UltraPixel camera on the back, dual SIM support, and come with either 16 or 32GB of storage onboard. In keeping with the tradition of brightly colored Desire phones, it seems that HTC may release the Desire A52 in a variety of color combinations, including Navy Blue/Vivid Blue, Taupe Purple/Tangerine Tango, Terra White/Almond, and Terra White/Tangerine Tango.
Of course, HTC may also launch a few other devices at CES, so we may be in for another cool surprise like the HTC Re action cam. Regardless, we’ll be reporting live from the press event in Las Vegas, so stay tuned!
