Check out our review of the Samsung Galaxy NotePro 12.2 tablet.

Samsung likes to push out phones, tablets and phablets in a vast array of sizes and specifications, seemingly in a determined effort to appeal to every type of consumer on the planet.

Besides the smartwatch (no doubt that’ll be out in 20 different flavors before the curtains comes down on 2013) and Galaxy Note 3 unveil at the company’s pre-IFA event in Berlin on Wednesday, it’s thought the Korean tech giant may also take the wraps off a whopper of a tablet, a purported image of which is shown above, courtesy of Korean site MovePlayer.

While talk of the existence of such a large Samsung slate has been doing the rounds for a while now, little is known about the kind of specs if might offer. It’s suggested, however, the Galaxy Note 12.2 (SM-P900) will, as its name makes obvious, sport a 12.2-inch screen with a 2560 x 1600 resolution.

The image above, if it’s genuine, shows a physical home button and a fairly square, less curvy design similar to what many are expecting with the Note 3 this week. It’s also thought the device could be powered by Samsung’s new Exynos 5 Octa processor.

One wonders who Samsung has in mind for such a large slate; we don’t, after all, envisage seeing too many commuters lugging it to and from work each day. Businesses could go for it as an office-based device for employees, or perhaps consumers will enjoy it as a laptop alternative, using it primarily around the home.

Big tablets

It seems the idea of a massive tablet is also something Samsung rival Apple is looking into – in July the Wall Street Journal reported that the Cupertino-based company had asked its suppliers for 13-inch displays, suggesting at the very least that it’s experimenting with the larger form factor.

As for Samsung, we already know it’s going to unveil its much-anticipated Galaxy Gear smartwatch and Note 3 devices. Let’s see if it slips in a 12.2-inch tablet, too.

Samsung may not be killing off the Galaxy Note after all
samsung galaxy note 22 rumour rumor

When Samsung skipped launching a 2021 Galaxy Note smartphone earlier this year, most of us thought it was the end of the road for the company’s popular stylus-toting phablet. New reports, however, indicate that Samsung could do a complete about-face and revive the Galaxy Note lineup as soon as February 2021.

If we are to believe South Korean tipster Tron, Samsung could launch a Galaxy Note 22 alongside the Galaxy S22 series in the first quarter of 2022. What’s more interesting is that the device Samsung intends to brand as the Galaxy Note 22 will replace the top-end Galaxy S 22Ultra.

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked part 2 event cover photo

Samsung Galaxy Unpacked Part 2 came right on the heels of the Pixel 6 launch, but unlike Google's event, it didn't feature new hardware -- at least not exactly. Instead, we got new color and customization options for the Galaxy Z Flip 3, new Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 features, and special editions of the Watch 4 and Buds 2.

The company has already announced its Galaxy S series and new foldables. It also said that the Galaxy Note series isn't coming this year, and neither is the Samsung Galaxy S21 FE.
