iPad 2: Verizon & AT&T data prices revealed

Earlier today, we found out that the iPad 2 will go on sale tomorrow morning (March 11) at 1 a.m. Pacific time on Apple.com (4 a.m. EST) here in the United States. All Apple, Best Buy, Verizon, Target, Walmart, and other retail stores will begin selling the device at 5 p.m. in whatever time zone that store happens to be located. Now AT&T and Verizon have revealed 3G data prices for the tablet. Both are listed below.

AT&T

$14.99 for 250MB of data ($14.99 for 250MB of extra bandwidth should you exceed your limit)
$25.00 for 2GB of data (Includes 1 free month, $10 per GB if you exceed your limit)

AT&T is retaining its standard iPad data prices for the iPad 2, but will be offering a free month of 2GB service, for a limited time. However, those who want tethering (available on iOS 4.3) will have to pay an additional $20 for the 4GB tethering plan.

Verizon

$20 for 1GB of data
$35 for 3GB of data
$50 for 5GB of data
$80 for 10GB of data

Verizon’s plans are new. This may be the first indication of where Verizon intends to go with data plans. We have to say, though the prices have gone up, at least Verizon isn’t cheating people with a 250MB data option. 1GB of data is the smallest amount a regular tablet user might use up. Unfortunately, we don’t know what Verizon will charge for overages. Hopefully if users go over their limit they will simply be bumped up to the next available plan.
