Apple’s Steve Jobs teased the audience before revealing the new iPad tablet device. Jobs is now demonstrating the products—he says this thin new device is extraordinary and “the best web experience you’ve ever had.” The iPad is a half-inch thick and weighs just 1.5 pounds. It sports a 9.7-inch capacitive touchscreen IPS LCD display and runs Apple’s chip developed by P.A. Semi. It has YouTube, iTunes built in… it’s basically a way cooler giant iPhone. There’s also built-in calendar (kind of like a datebook but also like the desktop OS X calendar).
The new iPad seems more Mac-like than iPhone-esque in functionality, but the portability aspect is all iPhone. And if anyone was worried about the keyboard, Jobs assured us it’s “easy” to use and type. Check out our iPad updates.
