Apple revealed updates for its iWork and iLife apps today at its event in San Francisco. Below are some new updates to its software suites, which are both now free with the purchase of a new Mac.

iWork

  • The iWork suite, including Pages, Numbers, and Keynote, was completely revamped for iOS 7 and the Mac.
  • Keynote is souped up with new, realistic, physics-based transitions.
  • Numbers gets a “free, object-based design” and interactive (!) charts.
  • iWork for iCloud now offers real-time collaborative editing of projects.

iLife

  • iPhoto for iOS now has a black-and-gray, instead of silver, look.
  • iPhoto for iOS also comes with a photobook-making feature, previously unavailable to iOS.
  • iMovie gets a redesign, along with improved editing features.
  • iMovie for Mac is compatible with slow-motion videos shot on the iPhone 5C.
  • iMovie Theater syncs all projects to iCloud, making them available to all iCloud-connected devices.
  • GarageBand gets a new design, of course, and supports 16 tracks, instead of 8.
  • iCloud support lets you go from Mac to iPad to iPhone, working on the same song.
  • The new “drummer track” automatically plays along to your track, and you can change up the drummer’s style/complexity.
