Kempler & Strauss Make $200 Watch-Phone, The W Phonewatch

Want to feel like a super secret agent all day, every day? If you do—and we’re not sure why you wouldn’t—then the W “phonewatch” from Kempler & Strauss is the gadget for you. The W phonewatch features a touchscreen interface, a 1.4-megapixel camera for photos and videos, basic phone functionality, and all basic watch functions too. This GSM phone can work with both AT&T and T-Mobile. The company recommends pairing the phonewatch with a Bluetooth headset for convenience purposes.

Kempler & Strauss want to remind future customers that the W phonewatch is no iPhone or BlackBerry replacement—it’s more of a fun second option. The W phonewatch is an unlocked device and will cost you $200. Check out the company’s video.

Qualcomm is about to make cheap Android phones better than ever

Qualcomm is adding a new top-tier mobile chipset to its portfolio — one that takes the best bits of its flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 silicon, makes some concessions, and serves it all up in a more affordable package. The result of those efforts is the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which is slated to appear inside phones from Xiaomi and Honor in the coming month.

Qualcomm is once again pushing generative AI capabilities for its latest silicon, touting features like image expansion, support for AI models from the likes of Meta to create an intelligent on-device assistant, and readiness for Google’s Gemini Nano model. So far, these things have remained exclusive to Google's Pixel and Samsung flagships, but it appears that the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 will finally bring them to a larger audience.

Samsung's Galaxy Watch 6 is a popular choice for a smart watch, available in both regular and classic forms. The bright, vibrant display and improved battery life to keep going all day offer an enticing option, even making for a tempting upgrade from the Galaxy Watch 4 or Galaxy Watch 5.

However, before you buy a smart watch there's always the sticky question of phone operating system compatibility. To be useful, you need to link your smart watch to your smart phone -- but not every option for smart watch software plays nice with every phone OS. Samsung's smart watch options work happily with Android devices, but if you're hoping to use a newer Samsung smart watch with your iPhone then you'll run into some problems. Essentially, the newer versions of the Galaxy Watch aren't compatible with iOS, so they're not going to work with your iPhone.
