Kobo’s iPhone app for book lovers gets social

Kobo makes it possible for users to read its ebooks on any device anywhere in the world.

Reading Life adds in a social aspect to the ebook experience. Users can learn about their reading habits from the Reading Life dashboard, achieve reading milestones and targets, unlock dozens of achievement-based badges, and check in with characters and places they encounter in special enhanced ebooks. Readers can also choose to share this information, along with favorite quotes and passages with friends on their Facebook wall.

Since its December 2010 launch on the iPad, Kobo has awarded more than 750,000 Reading Life awards. Reading Life users read nearly double the pages of a non-Reading Life user. Now readers can engage with Kobo Reading Life not just on their iPad but on their iPhone.

The new Kobo eReading iPhone app is now available for free download from www.kobo.com or the iTunes App Store.

While my primary device these days continues to be my iPhone 15 Pro, I’ve dabbled with plenty of Android phones since I’ve been here at Digital Trends. One of my favorite brands of phone has been the Google Pixel because of its strong suite of photo-editing tools and good camera hardware.

Google first added the Magic Eraser capability with the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, which is a tool I love using. Then, with the Pixel 8 series, Google added the Magic Editor, which uses generative AI to make edits that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. There are also tools like Photo Unblur, which is great for old photographs and enhancing images that were captured with low-quality sensors.

Currently, AT&T has its “Next Up” add-on, which has been available for the past several years. This program costs $6 extra per month and lets you upgrade by trading in your existing phone after at least half of it is paid off. But the new Next Up Anytime option gives you some more flexibility.
