The inclusion of the app isn’t surprising now that DirecTV is part of AT&T, and it’s most likely a sign that the app will appear on every AT&T device moving forward. With the DirecTV Everywhere app, customers can watch live TV, see movies and shows on demand, view and set DVR recordings, control the TV, and more.
The specs include a 10.1-inch LCD screen with a 1080p (1920 x 1200 pixel) resolution. It’s powered by a 2.26GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor, and the tablet includes 2GB of RAM, 32GB of internal storage, and a MicroSD slot for up to an additional 128GB of storage. A 7,400mAh battery keeps it running throughout the day, and it comes with 4G LTE connectivity and Android 5.1.1.
The camera specs weren’t mentioned in the press release, but we presume the cameras will be the same as those on the G Pad 2, which has a 5-megapixel at the rear and 2-megapixel shooter on the front.
Other software benefits include QPair, which syncs the tablet with Android phones so that you can answer phone calls and read or respond to text messages from the tablet. Additionally, the included Reader Mode reduces eye strain by dampening the screen intensity. Lastly, the G Pad X offers Dual Window mode, which allows you to display two compatible apps side-by-side for power multitasking.
The G Pad X 10.1 will be available at AT&T online starting September 4, and in stores nationwide on September 11. Brilliant Bronze is the only color option, and it will cost $17.50 per month for 20 months — which amounts to $350 — or $250 with a two-year contract. Customers can add the tablet to a new or existing Mobile Share Value Plan for an extra $10 per month.
