The GX2 looks like the G3 and it even has the same laser focus as the company’s flagship device, though the camera has an 8-megapixel resolution instead of 13 megapixels. However, its mid-range specs have much more in common with last year’s LG GX. Like the GX, the GX2 borrows the look of the current G flagship, but none of the guts are the same. It’s also slightly larger than the G3.

The GX2 features a 5.7-inch screen with a 720p HD display, instead of the 2K screen of the G3. It’s powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor alongside 1.5GB RAM. The phone comes with a measly 8GB of storage, but it should be expandable via MicroSD card. The front-facing camera is just 1.3 megapixels, rather than 2.1 megapixels like the G3’s front shooter. LG popped a 3,200mAh battery under the GX2’s cover, so at least you won’t have to worry about the massive screen draining your battery.
LG is marketing the GX2 as the ultimate multi-media smartphone for viewing movies, TV shows, and other content that looks best on a bigger screen. Luckily streaming videos shouldn’t be a problem with that giant battery inside.
The LG GX2 should arrive in stores on September 18, but it will only be available in South Korea, for now and maybe forever.
