Motorola Could Jump to Head of Phone Pack With 2GHz Phone

Smartphones are about to get a whole lot smarter as Motorola has announced that its next smartphone will pack a whopping 2GHz processor. To put that in perspective, that means that by the end of the year, you might be holding a cell phone in your hands that is more than twice as fast as the computers used to take man to the moon. By comparison, the iPhone runs at a bit above a 1GHz processor speed.

Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha confirmed the release earlier today, but was tight lipped on the details. According to Conceivably Tech, a source has claimed that the new phone will include everything that is technologically possible to be included in a smartphone, it will be Andorid based, and include a graphics card that will include Flash support.

Expect to hear more on this phone when details emerge. Expect to hear a LOT more.

World’s top folding phone maker revealed — and it’s not Samsung

Data from analysts at Counterpoint Research has revealed that Samsung has lost its crown as the world’s top foldable smartphone brand based on the number of shipments. In the space of a year, Samsung has slipped from having a 58% share of shipments to 23%, and it's Huawei that has taken the top spot, overtaking it as the new leader with a 35% share of the folding phone market.

Losing the top spot is bad enough, but according to the dat,a Samsung is the only brand not to have shown any growth in foldable phone shipments over the past 12 months. While Huawei is now the top manufacturer by number of shipments, even it did not register the largest growth according to Counterpoint Research’s data. Instead, Motorola’s shipments grew by a massive 1,473% to take 11% of the market, and the company notes the Razr 2023 is its top model in North America.

It seems the long-overdue Siri overhaul will finally arrive at WWDC in just over a week from now, and the digital assistant will embrace AI trickery in all its forms. According to Bloomberg, Apple’s planned upgrades for Siri will deeply integrate with on-device functions at the OS level and with the installed apps, too.

“The new system will allow Siri to take command of all the features within apps for the first time,” the report says. The most notable capability is that Siri will only require voice prompts to interact with apps, thanks to a major change in the AI architecture powering it and putting large language models in command, just the way Gemini or ChatGPT draw their own skills from such models.
