Motorola Rumored to Launch Android Tablet in November

Among the many companies rumored to be cracking away at Android tablets behind the scenes, it seems that Motorola has now thrown its own hat into the ring. The company responsible for some of the most successful Android-based smartphones, including the Droid and Droid X, is rumored to be working on an Android tablet that will be among the first to use Android 3.0.

According to analyst Ashok Kumar, who claims to have talked to people familiar with the project, the tablet will boast a 10-inch screen and arrive around November. He briefed The Street with news of the tablet on Monday.

Although Motorola has yet to formally announce such a tablet, it did provide some hardware for a 7-inch tablet running Android at CES 2010, developed in partnership with Verizon, Nvidia and ICD. Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha also expressed interest in Android tablets at a conference back in May.

The so-called “Gingerbread” release of Android is rumored to bring with it a number a tablet-friendly features, including media streaming from PC libraries, a new user interface, and support for larger screens.

From low-quality displays, poor performance, bad cameras, and more, it felt like Motorola had lost its budget phone mojo.
