Motorola’s ROKR T505 Taps into Car Speakers

Motorola

Drawing on the same phone-and-music blend that serves as the basis for the ROKR handset, Motorola announced a new ROKR hands-free device for the car on Wednesday. The ROKR T505 pumps both music and voice from a Bluetooth-enabled phone or MP3 player through a car stereo, via an integrated FM transmitter.

To make sure callers aren’t greeted with an ear-splitting dose of AC/DC when you pick up the phone in the car, the T505 automatically cuts off music when you take a call, and cancels out noise and echoes. It also does the grunt work of finding the clearest FM station for you with Motorola’s StationFinder technology. The device clips onto a visor, so there’s no installation necessary, and its batteries should last for about 14 days on standby, or a full 18 hours of talking.

The ROKR T505 will appear in the first quarter of 2008, but Motorola hasn’t yet announced a price for it.

Motorola's Moto Watch 70 is on its way to being released soon, as the wearable has just been listed on Best Buy Canada. The landing page reveals the product in its full glory, presenting its key specifications alongside a boring, conventional, and lazy design.

The Moto 70 features a 1.69-inch color display with a 240 x 280-pixel resolution. While we don't know if the display is LCD or AMOLED, the case it's housed in is zinc alloy. You'll get a silicone watch band bundled with the device. As for other features, the Moto 70 sports heart-rate tracking alongside a SpO2 sensor and a gyroscope. Fitness features onboard include 23 sports modes.

Amazon Music now has a car mode, but don’t use it while driving
Amazon Music Car Mode

The Amazon Music app for iOS and Android now comes with an optional car mode that offers up a simplified interface that can automatically launch as soon as you connect to your car's Bluetooth system.

It looks like the ideal solution for those who don't have an infotainment system that's compatible with Apple CarPlay or Android Auto but want to stream music from Amazon Music while driving. According to an email from Amazon's PR partner, the new feature was designed "to limit extensive browsing while driving." Curiously, however, on the webpage that promotes car mode, Amazon warns its customers that they should not "interact with this app while operating your vehicle." Which naturally raises the question: Why give the app a car mode at all?
