Gone are the days when Nokia was a forgotten legend. These days, the Nokia brand is alive and well — thanks to HMD Global, a new company that licenses the Nokia brand name for its phones. The latest is the Nokia 9 PureView, which stands out from the crowd because of its five-camera array.
It’s a limited edition phone, so when it’s sold out, chances are you won’t be able to buy it anymore — that could take days, weeks, or months. It’s currently backordered until April, but nevertheless, how can you order one? Here’s everything you need to know about pricing and availability of the Nokia 9 PureView.
Unlocked
While flagship phones can range well into the thousands of dollars these days, the Nokia 9 PureView is far more affordable. That makes sense — while the phone does offer what can be considered flagship specs, the specs are a little dated next to really new phones. Take for example, the use of the Snapdragon 845 processor instead of hte newer Snapdragon 855.
If you’re interested in buying the Nokia 9 PureView for yourself, you’ll be able to get it for $699. In Europe, it’ll come at 600 euros.
Sales of the Nokia 9 PureView have kicked off in the U.S., and to drive sales, HMD is offering $100 off the phone in its first week, making it $599. Be quick — that discount only lasts until March 10, after which will go back up to the $699 price. You’ll be able to grab it from Amazon, B&H, and Best Buy.
Carriers
We have yet to find out if carriers in the U.S. will offer the new phone. HMD Global brought two phones to the U.S. for the first time earlier this year, but considering the Nokia 9 is a limited edition phone, there may not be enough stock to go around to sell it on a carrier. But if they end up doing so, we’ll update this story.
The phone
We’ve taken an in-depth look in our Nokia 9 PureView review, but the main reason to buy this phone is for its five-camera setup on the back. It’s catering to photography enthusiasts, as we found the photos it captures to look far more natural and realistic than other smartphones — but it also offers robust ways to tweak the RAW images or add bokeh through the editing process. If you’re looking for a phone where all you need to do is tap the shutter button to get a fantastic photo, this may not be the phone for you.
Updated on February 28, 2019: The Nokia 9 PureView will be available for purchase from March 3.
