Hopes were high for Nokia’s first Android smartphone, but the Nokia X’s low-end specs were disappointing. Now, specs for a new Android phone called the Nokia X2 have leaked in benchmark results online. It seems that the X2 will also sport low-end specs with very few changes.
The mystery device is listed as the Nokia X2DS (RM-1013) on the AnTuTu benchmarking site along with a spec sheet. According to this leak, The X2 will be powered by a dual-core MSM8x10 processor, clocking in at a lowly 1190MHz. However, earlier reports hinted that the device would receive an upgrade in processing power to a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8210 processor, so perhaps the benchmark got the processor wrong. The new leak also indicates that the X2 will have 1GB RAM, the Adreno 305 GPU, and 4GB of storage onboard.
Just like its predecessor, the X2 is rumored to feature a 480 x 800 pixel resolution display, but this time the display will be 4.3 inches instead of just 4 inches. It will be a dual-SIM smartphone, too. The leaked specs show a 5-megapixel back camera and a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera, both of which are minor improvements over the Nokia X’s cameras. For those of you who are interested in the actual benchmark result, AnTuTu gave the X2 a score of 11,827.
Another post from German website Mobile Geeks hints that multiple models of the X2 and other Nokia Android phones might be on the way soon, as well. Very few details about any of these handsets are available as of yet, but this flurry of leaks seems to prove that Microsoft hasn’t given up on creating new Android Nokia phones.
