OnePlus’ second year brought about the OnePlus 2 and the OnePlus X, but with rumors about the OnePlus 3 now starting to float, we can’t forget about the possibility of a OnePlus 2 Mini.

Previous rumors for the OnePlus Mini ended up relating to the OnePlus X, so the name of the device is likely to change.

Updated on 12-31-2015 by Julian Chokkattu: Added in new information from a TENAA listing of the OnePlus 2 Mini, dubbed the OnePlus E1000. Also added news of an Oppo device with matching specifications.

Chinese regulatory agency TENAA has certified two devices, one of which likely refers to the OnePlus 2 Mini. The listing describes the “OnePlus E1000” as having a 4.99-inch display with a 1,920 x 1,080 pixel resolution, as well as containing a 2.0GHz CPU, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. It also claims the device will have MicroSD card support with capacity up to 128GB, a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 8-megapixel front-facing one, and will run on Android 5.1.1.

Another device was certified by TENAA around the same time, and it’s an Oppo device, dubbed the Oppo A30, PhoneArena noted. The device specs are the same as the purported OnePlus 2 Mini, except for the color. Images show a great resemblance between the two devices, save for the branding on the back. The OnePlus 2 Mini is reported to come in black, despite being white in the photo, and the Oppo A30 is listed as white.

Earlier in December, a GFXBench listing displayed details of an “unknown” OnePlus smartphone, which had a 4.6-inch display — smaller than the latest information on TENAA.

The GFXBench description also says the device will still sport a 1080p resolution and be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor and Adreno 430 GPU. The device is purported to have 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. These specifications are the exact same as the OnePlus 2, so if GFXBench’s listing is accurate, the OnePlus 2 Mini would really be a smaller version of the OnePlus 2. It’s also detailed as running Android 5.1.1, but that could change depending on the device’s release date, as Android 6.0.1 has begun rolling out.

Other discrepancies with the TENAA listing are the camera, which GFXBench’s report said would be a 12-megapixel rear camera with ultra high-definition video recording capabilities, as well as a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. The information said the device will not have NFC capabilities, like the OnePlus 2.

It’s unclear which information is the most accurate, so take everything with a grain of salt.

There aren’t a lot of smartphones in this size range these days, but there are still some notable competitors like the Sony Xperia Z5 Compact, or the Moto E 2015. If the rumors are true, it will be nice to have another option for people who prefer smaller-sized devices.

We’ll update this post as we get more information about the rumored OnePlus 2 Mini.
