The midrange phone market is seriously heating up, and European and U.S. buyers will soon have two more options to consider: The OnePlus Nord N10 5G and the OnePlus Nord N100. The new devices represent OnePlus’ mission to offer premium features at a lower price, and will eventually be much more widely available than the original OnePlus Nord.
Both of these phones are now available in Europe and the U.K. OnePlus says they’ll be coming to North America at some point, but it has yet to announce a date.
Here’s a rundown of the two phones and what they have to offer.
OnePlus Nord N10 5G
The OnePlus Nord N10 5G is the more high-end of the two devices, offering a slew of features that would normally be reserved for much more expensive phones. The device has a 6.49-inch 90Hz display, OnePlus’ Warp Charge, 6GB of RAM, and 128GB of storage — all in a phone that costs 329 British pounds ($429).
Powering it all is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 690 chipset, which is about on par for a phone in this price range. There are slightly more powerful phones for around the same price. though, like the Google Pixel 4a, which has a Snapdragon 730G.
The design of the phone looks pretty solid, with a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera, a fingerprint sensor on the back, and a sleek and stylish look.
Of course, as the name suggests, you’ll also get 5G support. Now, we still don’t recommend buying a phone just for 5G, but it’s definitely an added bonus, especially for those who plan on keeping their phones for at least a couple years.
The camera is shaping up to be solid, too. There’s a quad-camera system, which offers a 64-megapixel main lens and dedicated macro and monochrome lenses. On the front, there’s a 16MP main sensor.
OnePlus Nord N100
The OnePlus Nord N100 is the cheaper of the two devices, offering even better value for the money. The device costs 179 British pounds ($233), but still offers 4GB of RAM, 64GB, and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 processor.
On the front of the device, you’ll get a 6.52-inch display. Powering it all is a 5,000mAh battery that can be charged with 18-watt fast charging. Despite its super-low price tag, the device still has a very modern design, with a hole-punch cutout for the front-facing camera, and a triple-lens camera on the back. There’s also a fingerprint sensor on the back.
Neither of the two phones beat the original OnePlus Nord, which has a Snapdragon 765G processor, up to a hefty 12GB of RAM, and more. They do look a little more modern, thanks to the rectangular camera bump on the back, but looks alone aren’t worth buying a phone. If you have access to the original OnePlus Nord, and can afford it, we still recommend going for it. But if you can’t quite afford the standard Nord, these phones offer a compelling alternative at a lower cost.
