Check out our review of the Nokia Lumia 2520 tablet.
Nokia will be holding an event in Abu Dhabi on October 22, where it has been saying it’ll be reinventing innovation, although of course, we’ve yet to see official confirmation of the hardware it’ll be announcing. However, there’s solid evidence the Lumia 1520 smartphone/tablet hybrid will be the star of the day, although there’s also a chance the Lumia 2520 Windows tablet may try to steal some of its limelight.
An event with two high-profile announcements is exciting enough, but according to The Verge, Nokia has at least six new products to show us on the day. Quoting sources familiar with Nokia’s plans, the six will include two new Lumia devices, indicating both the 1520 and 2520 will be there, unless there’s a surprise in store about which we’ve heard nothing, plus a range of accessories.
Although there’s no information on these new accessories, we can do a little creative speculation. Notorious phone leaked @evleaks has posted an image on Twitter that could be related. It shows a square, blue, keyfob-like product with a central button. The tweet says simply, “Pretty special,” with no manufacturer or product name. Could this be one of Nokia’s accessories (knowing its love of bright colors), and if so, what could it be? We’ll hazard a guess it’s an NFC/Bluetooth accessory for locating a phone or remotely activating the camera’s shutter release, along the same lines as HTC’s Fetch and Oppo’s O-Click.
As for the other accessories, if the Lumia 2520 tablet is going to be announced, we’ve heard in the past it’ll be accompanied by a special cover with a built-in keyboard, and we wouldn’t rule out some kind of dock either. Microsoft went mad with accessories when it announced the new Surface tablets recently, announcing seven on the day.
We’re still several weeks away from Nokia’s event, so don’t be too surprised if we see a few more leaks between now and then, giving us more clues of the company’s plans.
