You can take all the compatibility tests you want to find your soulmate, but when it comes down to it, does anything know what the heart wants as well as the stomach? Probably not. I mean, when’s the last time you felt a real connection with someone you couldn’t break (a lot of) bread with? So now, in what may be the most ingenious dating app to ever hit the market, Oscar Mayer has released Sizzl, the dating app for bacon lovers. You already know you have one thing in common, which puts Sizzl users ahead of the curve when it comes to these sites. So go ahead and check out this “totally real dating app” that allows potential lovebirds to “specify their bacon preferences in a customizable profile, upload photos and start swiping through profiles of local fellow bacon lovers, with the ability to message and meet up with other Sizzl users based on a mutual-matching system.”

Oscar Mayer’s marketing team has come a long way since the wiener song (which I still maintain is one of the best jingles ever created), and in keeping with the times, this latest cheeky foray into pop culture certainly deserves a chuckle, if not a product purchase. Once you download the app, you’re given the opportunity to bare your soul via a deeply personal bacon questionnaire, in which you must make life-altering decisions like whether you’d rather have pork or turkey bacon, or if you prefer crispy bacon to chewy bacon. Take your time with this inquiries, kids — after all, they reveal some pretty telling character traits, as everyone knows that bacon is the window into one’s soul.

“In love, as it is in bacon, it’s important to be discerning when selecting your perfect match and to never settle for less than the best,” said Eric Dahmer, Oscar Mayer’s marketing director in a statement. “We passionately cure our bacon for 12 hours, and lovingly smokehouse it for another 12, making it the true bacon for bacon lovers. With the launch of Sizzl, we’re thrilled to give our true bacon lovers the chance to find each other and potentially meet their soulmates, in life and in bacon.”

Despite all signs to the contrary, this really is a real dating app, and you really can attempt to meet your love match via a bacon-based matching service. Let’s be honest — it can’t be any worse than what’s already out there.

You can now video call your Tinder matches within the app
Tinder

In the age of online dating during quarantine, Tinder is now officially getting into the face chat game with one-on-one video calls.

The video call feature was announced in May as an effort by Tinder to keep people within the app when they want to video chat with a potential date. Face-to-face video is now available to try, but only to members in Virginia, Illinois, Georgia, and Colorado for now. The feature will expand to members in other states after Tinder evaluates the initial testing of video calls.

You’ll soon be able to video call your Tinder matches
Tinder

Soon you won’t have to leave Tinder to go on a virtual date with your matches. Match Group, the dating app’s parent company, said it’s developing a one-on-one video chatting feature. "We know that singles are adjusting their behaviors, and many are shifting to having dates virtually via phone or video," it wrote in its first-quarter earnings release.

Match Group said it’s accelerating development for building "one-to-one video chat capabilities" on many of its platforms. This likely hints that, in addition to Tinder, the feature will arrive on the rest of the startup’s dating apps as well, including Hinge and OkCupid. While it didn’t reveal any specifics just yet, the company did say video calls will be first rolled out for Tinder users sometime in "late Q2."

AT&T Storefront with logo.

Do you want to upgrade your phone more than once a year? What about three times a year? Are you on AT&T? If you answered yes to those questions, then AT&T’s new “Next Up Anytime” early upgrade program is made for you. With this add-on, you’ll be able to upgrade your phone three times a year for just $10 extra every month. It will be available starting July 16.

Currently, AT&T has its “Next Up” add-on, which has been available for the past several years. This program costs $6 extra per month and lets you upgrade by trading in your existing phone after at least half of it is paid off. But the new Next Up Anytime option gives you some more flexibility.
