The iPhone 5 will arrive on April 21 with T-Mobile, will connect to new 4G LTE network

If you thought the BlackBerry Z10 was the only new hardware announcement to come out of T-Mobile’s New York event today, you’re wrong, as the Apple iPhone 5 has also arrived on the network. Like the Z10, it’s going to cost $100 up front, then monthly payments of $20 for two-years.

It’s going to connect to T-Mobile’s new 4G LTE network, which has also been announced today, and it’s also going to uniquely feature HD Voice for clear, high quality calls. There has been a lot of talk about the network’s new tariffs, and the iPhone 5 is $50 per month with unlimited text and calls, plus 500MB of 4G data. Once that’s run out, it’s down to a 2G connection.

If you want more data, $60 per month will provide 2GB or data, or for $70, it’s unlimited all round. You won’t be tied into an ongoing contract with these, and will be able to upgrade the phone when you like. As for T-Mobile’s 4G LTE network, it’s ready to go in seven areas: Baltimore, Houston, Kansas City, Las Vegas, Phoenix, San Jose and Washington D.C.

In addition to the iPhone 5, T-Mobile will also sell the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. The former is a mere $15 with $15 per month for two years, and the latter is $70 up front, then $20 for two years.

T-Mobile will open up its iPhone 5 pre-orders on April 5, and it’ll go on sale nationwide on April 12 both online and in stores.

Here’s how iOS 18 is going to overhaul your iPhone’s email app

We're just days away from Apple's Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC 2024), which means we're about to get our first look at iOS 18. The new iPhone operating system is expected to get RCS texting in the iMessage app, more customization options for the home screen, and maybe a significant design change overall. Now comes word that changes will be made to the native Mail app.

According to AppleInsider, the Mail app is about to undergo a significant transformation. It's getting a powerful new search tool, Smart Replies, automatic sorting for different email types, and more. But the real excitement lies in the app's expected integration of AI functionality, a feature becoming a hallmark of iOS 18.

Be careful with your iPhone! Repairing it just got more expensive

According to 9to5Mac, Apple has significantly changed its repair and standard warranty policies — potentially resulting in higher repair costs for iPhones and Apple Watches.

The policy change pertains to “single hairline cracks.” In the past, this type of problem was covered by the standard warranty for these products. However, it is now being treated as “accidental damage,” with customers being required to pay for the repair.
