Verizon Launching New Droid Phone June 23

Verizon Wireless has announced a press event for June 23 in which it is promising to unveil the “next generation of Droid.” Verizon Wireless isn’t offering any details about the device itself, but all bets that Verizon is planning to launch the Motorola Droid X, which—despite being an unannounced product—has been widely discussed in the mobile industry, with leaked product shots specifications circulating for some time.

According to industry reports and leaks, the Motorola Droid X sports a design akin to an upsized HTC EVO 4G or HTC Incredible: instead of shrinking down (like the iPhone 3GS to the iPhone 4), the Droid X actually has a larger footprint than most smartphones, in part due to a larger 4.4-inch touchscreen display that reportedly runs at an 854 by 480 resolution. The device does not have a physical QWERTY keyboard, but reportedly offers an 8 megapixel camera that can record 720p high-definition video and push it out to big screens via HDMI; the device will apparently sport at least 8 GB of onboard storage and microSD expansion. Tech blog Engadget has posted an exclusive hands-on preview with the device, although we have not been able to confirm several details of the piece.

Verizon Wireless has announced that Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen would be present at the press event, which is a solid indication that whatever Droid device Verizon rolls out will be running Android 2.2 and Flash Player 10.1. If the device is the Motorola Droid X, it will also be running a version of Motoblur, Motorola’s custom Android front-end interface that brings together social networking streams to the device’s home screen.

Motorola’s new Android phone looks amazing, but there’s a catch

Earlier today, Motorola introduced a new premium phone in the Edge series, and from the looks of it, this could be one of the most value-centric phones of 2024. The Motorola Edge 50 Pro, which flaunts a fresh design language, marked its arrival in the Indian market with a price tag of roughly $385. For a limited spell, it will be sold at approximately $335, which is nothing short of stunning.

At that asking price, you won’t find a phone in the U.S. market that can match the hardware prowess and the fine looks of Motorola’s latest phone. We are talking about sleek curved glass aesthetics, a metallic frame, and a vegan leather finish available in a beautiful lavender shade.
