As if Apple needed any help getting more subscribers to its streaming music service, a new partnership with Verizon Wireless could end up further padding its coffers. On August 8, Verizon and Apple jointly announced that those customers who were already subscribing to one of Verizon’s unlimited data plans would also get six free months of Apple Music. On Thursday, August 16, more details were released on how to get the Apple Music offer on Verizon.

The rather generous offer will be valid to both existing and new Verizon Unlimited subscribers, and you can sign up by visiting Verizon’s page. Simply sign in, select the line you’d like to use, and you’ll receive a text with a Apple Music login link.

This six-month bonus comes on the heels of news that Apple Music is beating Spotify in the United States. With over 20 million paid American subscribers and well over 40 million subscribers worldwide as of April 2018, Apple Music may not be the biggest streamer in the game, but it has the lion’s share of listeners in the biggest streaming market in the world listening to its catalog of over 45 million songs.

Not only will Verizon very likely bring Apple a rush of new subscribers, but this offer could lock in a lot of would-be Verizon subscribers on the fence and potentially get existing subscribers on lower-tier plans to upgrade. Based on Verizon’s statement today, that seems to be the crux of the exclusive plan, and we could see more like it in the near future.

“This first-of-its-kind offer is just the first step in an exclusive partnership with Apple,” said Angie Klein, vice president of marketing for Verizon.

Verizon offers three different unlimited plans that can be mixed and matched across up to four lines per account. Verizon claims its plans are simple and easy to understand, but we’ve found that folks value a little help deciding, so we put together this guide to help you choose.

Apple music costs $10 per month for a single user plan and $15 per month for a family plan. If you’re not sure Apple Music is right for you, check out this Apple Music vs. Spotify article for a detailed comparison.

Amazon Music's subscriptions range from free to its premium Music Unlimited tier, which can be added for $10 per month on top of a subscription to Amazon Prime. But they all come with some quirks and features. We're going to break them all down for you to help you choose which, if any, Amazon Music plan is right for you.
