White iPhone is in production, should launch in April

Yesterday reports that 64GB iPhone 4 models were cropping up in China’s gray market surfaced. Those same claims also revealed that legitimate the 16GB white iPhone 4 had made its Chinese debut and that they should be available to US consumers soon. Now Apple Insider is reporting that official production has begun on the infamous white iPhone and we can expect it to ship in April.

Concord Securities analyst Ming-Chi Ku told the site that Apple has outfitted the GSM iPhone 4 with white paneling, and after making alternations to “solve the full-lamination problem that [was] the reason why white iPhone [were] delayed,” is beginning production. There are no plans for a CDMA white iPhone, according to the site, giving AT&T a small victory over its rival iPhone carrier.

With a white iPhone projected to debut next month, the launch of the the iPad 2 this Friday, and the upgraded version due in June, Apple sales could skyrocket. Which also begs the question: How many true Apple junkies would spring for the white model with the iPhone 5 just beyond their reach? But it takes all kinds, and we’re sure there are iOS fanboys so hungry for the formerly forbidden fruit that they’ll scoop it up, no questions asked.

Switching phones is never a smooth process, even if you’re switching between two different Android phones. The good news is that with its Data Transfer Tool (also called Pixel Migrate on Pixel devices), Google may be trying to mitigate some of the phone-switching problems that arise -- specifically, losing access to your Live Photos. According to an APK teardown from Android Authority, Google’s Data Transfer Tool will finally resolve the problem of migrating iOS Live Photos to Android. It will do this by converting them over as Motion Photos.

Don’t expect a folding iPhone anytime soon

Samsung is expected to reveal the sixth-generation Galaxy Z Fold and Galaxy Z Flip in July. And what about Apple? A new report suggests the first foldable iPhone might not arrive until 2027 -- two years later than a previous rumor suggested.

According to TrendForce, “Apple is still evaluating component specifications and performance, with strict requirements for crease and reliability.” Further, “(Apple’s) entry could significantly shift market dynamics.” TrendForce monitors and forecasts demand for smartphone components.

The iPhone 16 Pro may set a new record for smartphone displays

The iPhone 16 rumor mill will almost certainly pick up speed now that we’re just three months away from the expected reveal. The lastest information isn’t so much news as confirmation of one of the changes coming to the top-of-the-line iPhone 16 Pro Max.

Similar to previous rumors IceUniverse, says Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max will feature the world’s thinnest smartphone bezels. Thinner bezels make sense when considering another long-running iPhone rumor: the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max are expected to offer bigger displays. Where the iPhone 16 Pro should see its display jump from 6.1 inches to 6.3 inches versus the iPhone 15 Pro, the one on the iPhone 16 Pro Max is likely to increasefrom 6.7-inches on the iPhone 15 Pro Max to 6.9 inches.
