Now checking into American Horror Story: Hotel is Naomi Campbell. The British supermodel will be joining the FX horror anthology for a muti-episode arc, according to TVLine.
Fresh off a recurring role on Fox’s Empire, she’ll start shooting Hotel next week. Campbell’s role fits nicely with her years of modeling experience, as she’ll play a fashion editor. Unfortunately, it looks like her character won’t have a very pleasant stay at the hotel; TVLine reports that she’ll pay “the ultimate price for her critiques.”
Interestingly, Lady Gaga’s character was previously revealed to be very fashion-focused, not to mention a villainess. Connecting the dots, it sounds like Campbell could very well end up on Gaga’s bad side and come out much worse for wear. Maybe fashion really is a matter of life or death in this case.
Before her character leaves the hotel — whatever the circumstances — Campbell will also appear in scenes with Angela Bassett, who is returning for her third series of American Horror Story. (She previously appeared on Coven and Freak Show.) Though it’s unclear which other actors Campbell might cross paths with, a variety of characters will pass through the mysterious hotel over the course of the season. From rock stars to Marilyn Monroe-imitators, and bellboys to hotel owners, the setting will bring together a fascinating (and possibly frightening) group of people. The star-studded cast so far also includes Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Matt Bomer, and more.
Campbell’s done a fair amount of acting over the years, with appearances on shows including The Cosby Show, The Fresh Price of Bel-Air, and Ugly Betty. Her role on Empire was as a fashion designer, so she should be in her comfort zone when she starts filming scenes for Hotel.
American Horror Story: Hotel will begin airing on FX in October.
