The most recent trailer for Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice offers up a lot of new footage from the impending big-screen brawl between the Dark Knight and the Man of Steel, including a scene in which Batman wears a more desert-friendly uniform as he battles a group of soldiers. Dawn of Justice set photographer Clay Enos recently posted an up-close look at the gear Batman wears in that scene, and it makes for an impressive and (literally) gritty profile of Gotham’s iconic vigilante.
Captioned “That was fun,” the Instagram photo features an up-close look at Ben Affleck in Batman’s mask and cowl, complete with goggles, duster, and scarf. As noted by quite a few fans, the look is reminiscent of Batman’s alternate-timeline World War II-era uniform in DC Comics’ Elseworlds series.
In the Dawn of Justice trailer, the suit can be glimpsed around the 2:40 mark, with Batman seen emerging from an underground bunker, then fighting with a group of armed soldiers in the desert. The soldiers appear to have Superman-style “S” insignias on their uniforms.
Directed by Zack Snyder, Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice has Henry Cavill reprising his Man of Steel role as Clark Kent’s super-powered alter ego, along with returning cast members Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Laurence Fishburne as Perry White, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent. Affleck makes his debut as Batman in the film, and he’s joined by newcomers Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Holly Hunter in an unspecified role, and Jason Momoa as Aquaman.
Batman V. Superman: Dawn of Justice is scheduled to hit theaters March 25, 2016.
