But it really happened in 1985 with the recording of We Are the World. Some of those superstars, including Michael Jackson, Tina Turner, Ray Charles, Kenny Rogers, and Harry Belafonte, are no longer with us.

One of the best Netflix movies of 2024 so far, The Greatest Night in Pop features an intimate look at the chaotic recording session that brought all these acts into the same room. Some participants, including Bruce Springsteen and Lionel Richie, participate in new interviews as they share their memories of the night they spent together almost 40 years ago.

Nobody would be bold enough as to call the USA men’s basketball team an underdog at any point in the last 30 years. But entering the 2008 Summer Olympics, the squad certainly had something to prove coming off a shocking bronze medal finish in 2004. The biggest names in basketball — LeBron James, Chris Paul, Carmelo Anthony — put ego aside to come together and bring the gold back to the United States. The team came to be known as the Redeem Team, earning redemption (spoiler alert?) with a gold medal performance in Beijing. Best new movies coming to theaters in 2024
Joseph Quinn and Lupita Nyong'o in A Quiet Place: Day One.

Having a box office smash like Pixar's Inside Out 2 really goes a long way towards making the cinema fun to talk about again. And it turns out that predictions that Inside Out 2 would finish its domestic run at around $500 million were too conservative, considering that it had over $100 million in its second weekend after a $154 million opening the week before. As of June 27, Inside Out 2 already has $400 million domestic, and there's no telling how high it can climb now.

The real question is whether the sci-fi horror film, A Quiet Place: Day One, can knock Inside Out 2 from the No. 1 slot. Unlike The Bikeriders, Day One has a real chance because the Quiet Place franchise is established, and Inside Out 2 has to come down to Earth eventually. If Day One can hit its $40 to $50 million projection, then it just might pull off that feat. Unfortunately, it might take a miracle to save Kevin Costner's passion project, Horizon. Costner bet on himself and used a lot of his own money to make this big-budget western, but the early predictions for Horizon have it at around $12 million. That would make it a flop out of the gate.
