Amazon had a memorable night at the Golden Globes on Sunday, picking up its first ever awards at the ceremony and beating out Netflix in the process.

Transparent won the Globe for best TV comedy or musical, seeing off competition from Netflix’s Orange is the New Black, HBO’s Silicon Valley and Girls, and The CW’s Jane the Virgin.

The win means Amazon’s show, a dark comedy that gained a big following soon after launching on Prime Instant Video last year, has become the first ever online series to take a best series award at the Globes.

Transparent star Jeffrey Tambor also helped bag a second award for Amazon, winning best actor in a TV comedy or musical.

“This is big,” 70-year-old Tambor said as he collected his award. “This is much bigger than me. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press for putting us on the map and making people aware of our story.”

The nods from the GG judges will be a huge boost for Amazon as it sets about building on its success in an effort to take on Netflix, as well as the wider TV industry, with more original programming.

The Seattle-based company, which was represented for the first time at the Golden Globes, will this week begin rolling out seven comedy and drama pilots, together with six pilots aimed at kids.

Despite receiving a total of seven nominations, Netflix was only able to bag one, with Kevin Spacey picking up the Globe for best actor in a TV drama for House of Cards.

So far, two seasons of the show have been produced, each receiving critical and commercial acclaim and cementing Reacher as the best action show currently available. Logically, a third season is already on the way, meaning fans can keep enjoying the badass adventures of this massive and unstoppable hero. Here's everything we know so far about Reacher season 3.

3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (June 28-30)
A girl looks at a boy in House at the End of the Street.

June is surprisingly over, and with it, a great month for movies comes to a satisfactory close. You've probably watched Inside Out 2 or Bad Boys: Ride or Die or maybe even The Bikeriders. From blockbusters to indie fare, the theatrical movie business has been robust and healthy.

The same goes for streaming. Netflix had a big hit with Richard Linklater's Hit Man, while Amazon Prime Video recently premiered the latest bonkers season of The Boys. HBO and Max have been quieter, but their robust library speaks volumes to the streamer's high quality. The following three films are older, but are just as worth your time as new hits like House of the Dragon season 2.
