Winston battles the underworld in John Wick’s The Continental trailer

Winston Scott aims to seize control of the famous hotel for assassins in the latest trailer for The Continental: From the World of John Wick, the prequel spinoff series from Peacock.

The Continental is set in 1970s New York City and follows a young Winston (Ambulance’s Colin Woodall), who will one day manage The Continental Hotel in the John Wick franchise. The series explores Winston’s origins and how he came to “take the house and everything that comes with it.”

In The Continental, the hotel is run by the villainous Cormac (Father Stu’s Mel Gibson). Winston’s brother, Frankie (Animal Kingdom’s Ben Robson), stole a valuable possession from Cormac, and Winston must find it and bring it back to the hotel or face the “weight of the whole institution.” Winston has no intention of turning in his brother, so he recruits other assassins and prepares for battle against the hotel.

A man aims a gun in John Wick 2.

What's the best John Wick movie? The answer is harder than it may seem since all four (so far) movies in the franchise are so darn good. From the first movie's origins as an under-the-radar film that quietly launched in the fall of 2014 to the latest installment John Wick: Chapter 4's big box office success, the John Wick movies have only increased in popularity and critical acclaim in the nine years it has existed.

Every John Wick movie has been praised for its innovative action and stylish direction, but which one ranks at the top? Is it the original John Wick, which established the series in the first place? Or is it Parabellum, which dramatically expanded the scope and depth of the franchise? The following is a list of all the John Wick movies, ranked in ascending order by their Rotten Tomatoes score.

Keanu Reeves looks at the camera in John Wick 2.

Everyone loves a good action movie. From the original Terminator back in 1984 to last year's Brad Pitt-lead Bullet Train, audiences have flocked to see things get blown up real good for decades. It's no secret that action movies usually dominate the box office; after all, would you rather see Bruce Willis sneak around the Nakatomi building in Die Hard or a three-hour movie about shepherds in Siberia?

In the last decade, no action film franchise has quite dominated the charts as the John Wick franchise. From 2014's sleeper hit to 2023's John Wick: Chapter 4, these Keanu Reeves-starring action movies have quietly won over the hearts of fans worldwide. But which one is the most popular? Is it the sequel, John Wick: Chapter 2, or the original John Wick, one of the greatest action movies ever? Using each movie's worldwide box office gross, the following is a list of the most popular John Wick movies in ascending order.

5 John Wick characters who need their own spinoff movie
john wick characters who deserve spinoff movie caine sitting beside in chapter 4

The in-your-face action of the John Wick movies doesn't only spotlight the titular man in black slinging bullets, dishing out knuckle sandwiches, and taking names. The entire saga has played host to a bevy of colorful and intriguing characters who are all just as brilliant to watch in action as the main man himself. John Wick's story began earnestly enough, focusing on a man whose violent past catches up with him, and he reenters that world as a way to suppress his grief over a sudden loss. The follow-up films greatly expand the world of assassins he hails from, with John Wick: Chapter 4 serving as the culmination of the character's journey.

Despite not actually being based on any previous work, the John Wick saga, with its impossible and highly organized underground world of professional killers stretching across the globe, has morphed into the archetype of a flashy comic book adaptation. The supporting characters are just as over-the-top as Mr. Wick, each with varying backgrounds that allude to intriguing histories currently shrouded in mystery. Because of these characters, the world of John Wick doesn't have to conclude with his story. Here are five characters from the franchise that deserve their own spinoff movie.
