The phrase “Good morning, Angels” will be coming back to the big screen. Yet another Charlie’s Angels reboot is in the works, and Elizabeth Banks is reportedly in talks to direct the film, according to TheWrap. Banks and husband Max Hendelman will also produce.

Banks has already proven her ability to helm a film that centers on a group of women. She made her directorial debut with 2015’s Pitch Perfect 2, a hit movie that has helped Universal Pictures have a record-setting year. The comedy, which stars Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, and Brittany Snow, made over $180 million at the U.S. box office. Banks is also well-known for her acting roles in Pitch Perfect, its sequel Wet Hot American Summer, and The Hunger Games franchise.

Reboots are all around us, and, whether we need them or not, Hollywood’s storyline recycling doesn’t appear to be petering out. A Charlie’s Angel reboot is a perfect example of this trend; after all, a new film would be a reboot of a reboot. Originally a 1970s television show, the hit crime drama followed three women who worked together at a private detective agency. It later spawned a 2000 film and a 2003 sequel, along with a short-lived TV series remake that aired in 2011.

Sony Pictures is behind the reboot, just as it was the previous film version. 2000’s Charlie’s Angels and 2003’s Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle both starred Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, and Drew Barrymore. As in the TV series, the movie Angels kept busy solving crimes, but with more comedy mixed in. It’s unclear at this point what direction the new reboot will take.

The original Angels were Kate Jackson, Farrah Fawcett, and Jaclyn Smith, but over the course of the series, Cheryl Ladd, Shelley Hack, and Tanya Roberts joined.

3 underrated (HBO) Max movies you should watch this weekend (June 28-30)
A girl looks at a boy in House at the End of the Street.

June is surprisingly over, and with it, a great month for movies comes to a satisfactory close. You've probably watched Inside Out 2 or Bad Boys: Ride or Die or maybe even The Bikeriders. From blockbusters to indie fare, the theatrical movie business has been robust and healthy.

The same goes for streaming. Netflix had a big hit with Richard Linklater's Hit Man, while Amazon Prime Video recently premiered the latest bonkers season of The Boys. HBO and Max have been quieter, but their robust library speaks volumes to the streamer's high quality. The following three films are older, but are just as worth your time as new hits like House of the Dragon season 2.

The best Netflix original series right now
Eric and Benedict Cumberbatch in Eric.

The era of Peak TV was also Peak Netflix, because the streamer seemingly had an endless supply of new original series. So far in 2024, that hasn't been the case. Whether we'll ever get the same level of content again seems unlikely for now. But even in a reduced capacity, Netflix still has a few new additions to its lineup of originals.

For the month of June, we're adding the '80s-set thriller, Eric, which stars Benedict Cumbebatch. Our other pick for the month is Supacell, which is Netflix's new British series that remixes some old superhero archetypes. That's not a very big selection for fans who always want something new, but this roundup of the best Netflix original series really does have all of the top options in one place for you. All you have to do is scroll down and make time to binge watch some shows.
