Everything coming to Amazon Freevee in September 2023

Inflation is going down, but the dollar just isn’t what it used to be. There are more bills to pay than ever, and the plethora of available streaming services doesn’t help the pocketbook. YouTube has some free movies, but in general, major streamers like Netflix and Apple TV+ require an ever-increasing fee to access their digital treasures.

Amazon, however, is a bit different. Yes, it costs money to subscribe to Prime Video, but the company also has another option that’s free. For consumers who don’t want to pay the Prime rate for movies and TV shows, it offers an alternative: Freevee, an ad-supported option that has a plethora of top-tier movies and shows. The current selection includes action movies like Kick-Ass 2 and Hoodlum, sci-fi adventures like Jurassic World with Chris Pratt, classic TV shows like Magnum P.I. and Miami Vice, modern TV series like The Originals, serious dramas like The Post with Tom Hanks and Meryl Streep, comedies like Pitch Perfect and Hot Fuzz, and thrillers like Widows with Viola Davis and Liam Neeson. Like any other streaming service, titles come and go, so keep reading to find out everything coming to Amazon Freevee in August 2023.

Amazon Prime Video is starting the summer season on a strong note thanks to its June 2024 lineup. It's the perfect storm of content that we're going to call Boysenheimer. Because not only does Prime Video have The Boys season 4 arriving on June 13, but five days later, on June 18, Oppenheimer, last year's Oscar winner for Best Picture, is migrating over from Peacock.

Additionally, the Mean Girls musical remake that debuted earlier this year in theaters is also making its way to Prime Video. So is the new documentary Federer: Twelve Final Days, which follows tennis superstar Roger Federer as he approaches the end of his storied career. And if you're looking for something to binge, the 2003 to 2008 drama series Las Vegas is coming to Prime Video on June 1.

Jeremy Renner survived a near-fatal accident last year, and now he's back on Paramount+ in June for the third season of Mayor of Kingstown. That's a major accomplishment in of itself, and we're understandably curious to see if Renner had to cut back on some of the more physical aspects of the show. But it's still exciting to have him back, and that's just one of the many shows and movies wee have to look foraward to this month on Paramount+. On June 6, Criminal Minds: Evolution is starting its second season on the streamer.

Cyndi Lauper may no longer be the music superstar that she was in the '80s, but she is getting her due this month with a documentary called Let the Canary Sing. The other music-related documentary in June is How Music Got Free, which offers a look back at how file sharing almost destroyed the industry during the days of Napster.

June is surprisingly over, and with it, a great month for movies comes to a satisfactory close. You've probably watched Inside Out 2 or Bad Boys: Ride or Die or maybe even The Bikeriders. From blockbusters to indie fare, the theatrical movie business has been robust and healthy.

The same goes for streaming. Netflix had a big hit with Richard Linklater's Hit Man, while Amazon Prime Video recently premiered the latest bonkers season of The Boys. HBO and Max have been quieter, but their robust library speaks volumes to the streamer's high quality. The following three films are older, but are just as worth your time as new hits like House of the Dragon season 2.
