HBO will broadcast a behind-the-scenes special for Game Of Thrones

To say that fans of HBO’s Game Of Thrones are eagerly anticipating the premiere of the series’ fifth season is a bit of an understatement. Fortunately, the network has recognized how desperate the show’s audience is for anything related to the series, and is offering up a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of the fifth season that will air in February 2015.

Game of Thrones: A Day in the Life premieres February 8 at 7:30pm ET (on HBO, of course), taking fans through a single day of production on the wildly successful adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s fantasy saga. The half-hour program offers a peek at the various international sets where production on the show happens as filming gets underway in Ireland, Croatia, and Spain.

In its announcement of the documentary (via EW), HBO promises that it will highlight “the epic sets, renowned cast and global scale of Thrones, as well as the more intimate and individual challenges of our subjects, giving the audience a new perspective on one of the most elaborate productions in television history.”

The network also provided a brief video teaser for the special.

The fifth season of Game Of Thrones kicks off April 12, but fans can get a look at two episodes from the previous season presented in IMAX theaters later this month. The IMAX screenings will also feature a new trailer for the fifth season.

HBO drops 2 dueling trailers for House of the Dragon season 2
A man preps for battle in House of the Dragon season 2.

Why weren't there any dragons at the beginning of Game of Thrones? It's largely because of the events depicted in the prequel series, House of the Dragon. Despite having control over the seven kingdoms of Westeros, the Targaryen family just couldn't stop themselves from destroying each other. The march to war unfolded over many years in season 1, but now there's only room for one person on the Iron Throne. The just-released first two trailers for House of the Dragon season 2 invite viewers to pick a side between the Black and the Green.

A woman stands across from a man in Game of Thrones.

Can you believe it's been four years since Game of Thrones concluded its legendary run? While we won't speak about the final season, Game of Thrones remains one of television's most successful shows, with a record 59 Primetime Emmy Awards. Game of Thrones was a "can't-miss" television show, meaning the audience had to tune into the live airing of an episode or risk seeing spoilers on the internet. In the social media age of television, it's rare for a show to have as much power and influence on pop culture as it did.

A select group is unequivocally regarded as the best episodes of Game of Thrones, including Blackwater, Hardhome, The Rains of Castamere (more commonly known as The Red Wedding episode), and The Winds of Winter. For this list, however, we selected the seven most underrated Game of Thrones episodes ever.

Paul Dano sits behind a mic in Dumb Money.

Have you ever wanted to stick it to the rich and make a lot of money at the same time? In 2021, a number of armchair investors and gamers did exactly that during the infamous GameStop stock squeeze. For a brief period, it looked like the proverbial little guy had taken on the hedge fund managers and mega stockbrokers -- and won. Or at least until the stock bubble burst. This fall, Sony is dramatizing the entire experience in Dumb Money, and the first trailer has been released. Fair warning, this is a Red Band R-rated trailer, and there's some very NSFW language ahead.
