We’ve already caught glimpses of several versions of Iron Man’s armor in Avengers: Age Of Ultron, but a new, hyper-detailed toy figure created by Hot Toys offers our best look yet at the latest iteration of wearable tech that Tony Stark will don in the team’s upcoming adventure.
Judging by the photos of the Mark XLIII armor posted to Facebook by Hot Toys, the standard armor Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) doesn’t appear to be that much different structurally from the armor he wore in Iron Man 3 (officially known as “Mark XLII,” of course) though the color scheme has been reversed for the new suit. Given that Tony enacted the “Clean Slate Protocol” at the end of Iron Man 3, however, the origin of this new armor should certainly play a role in the story — as well as the origin of the crushed “Ultron Mark I” that accompanies the figure.
The 1/6th scale figure is described as follows:
The movie-accurate Mark XLIII Collectible Figure is highly detailed and specially crafted based on the image of Robert Downey Jr as Tony Stark/Mark XLIII in Avengers: Age of Ultron, featuring a newly painted Tony Stark helmeted head sculpt, metallic red, gold and silver armor with weathered effects, LED light-up functions, and a specially designed diorama base with a damaged Ultron Mark I. A special edition will be available for selected markets which includes a LED lighted battle damaged helmet as bonus accessory.
The sequel to 2012’s record-breaking blockbuster The Avengers and the penultimate chapter in Phase Two of Marvel Studios’ cinematic universe, The Avengers: Age Of Ultron hits theaters May 1, 2015.
